A rent review starts with the figure you may charge, then a notice from facts you already have. SmartRent.ie keeps both next to the tenancy.
1. Run the calculator (19 September 2026)
- Open the Ireland rent increase calculator.
- Type the monthly rent you charge today.
- If you have looked up CSO CPI, type that percentage. Leave it blank to see the 2% ceiling.
- Optional: type the date the new rent should start as dd/mm/yyyy (for example 01/12/2026). The page shows 90 calendar days before that date as a notice hint.
From 1 March 2026 the State uses a national rent cap (generally 2% or CPI). Landlords still search “RPZ calculator” — that query belongs here. Confirm on rtb.ie. CPI: cso.ie.
2. Keep the notice draft
Open RTB tools on the property. Use the rent-review template with the new figure, the start date, and the tenant names you already stored. Stay compliant with RTB rules.
3. After you serve it
Store a copy in the document vault. Invite the household to the free tenant portal so they see the same tenancy file. When the new rent applies, the next charge uses that amount — how rent is marked received.
