How to register a tenancy in Ireland with SmartRent.ie

Irish landlords register each tenancy with the Residential Tenancies Board. SmartRent.ie keeps the facts on the property so the draft is ready. Stay compliant with RTB rules. Confirm the current form, fee, and deadline on rtb.ie.

Facts to gather

• Property address and Eircode
• Tenant names (everyone on the agreement)
• Tenancy start date and the rent you charge
• Deposit amount you recorded
• Whether the let is the whole house or part of it

Do not copy a blog table of fees. Those figures move. Look them up on rtb.ie on the day you file.

Steps in the software (19 September 2026)

1. Add the property and the tenancy you already agreed — or accept an applicant, which prepares the same drafts.
2. Open RTB tools. Download the registration draft.
3. Confirm the current form on rtb.ie and complete it from that draft.
4. Store the registration number the RTB sends you. Reminders fire from the dates you typed.
